Muiderslot
The 2023 sailing season has started. From now on you can sail again on one of our classic boats from Amsterdam IJburg to Muiderslot Castle, a lively place full of old stories. Enjoy coffee, tea, wine, special beer on board or organize a group package. During the sailing season (from April to October), the Amsterdam Ferry Service sails every weekend and even four days a week during the holidays. The boat takes about 45 minutes and you have more than 2.5 hours to discover the castle before we sail back. Read more about the activities in and around the castle below.
Activities at Muiderslot
This medieval castle with moat is one of the oldest and best preserved moated castles in Holland. Over the centuries, the castle has remained part and final piece of four water defense lines: the Utrecht Waterline, the Old and New Dutch Waterline and the Defense Line of Amsterdam (UNESCO World Heritage). The castle has also had famous residents. Wander through the castle and discover what life was like in the past.
Discover the castle at your own pace with an audio tour. Follow the Knight Route, Tower Route or the Garden Tour. The audio tour will be arranged on site after the ferry arrival. Contact us to book a private guide or themed tour.
Be enchanted by the beech foliage, stroll through the special gardens around the Muiderslot and learn more about forgotten vegetables and herbs that were used to prepare special dishes for centuries, and visit the 17th century plum orchard.
